From
Olga,
our Leader/Interpreter with the 2002 group visit.
Dear .....
I want to apologise for not answering soon. Three months already have passed
after our holidays in your country. Sometimes it seems to me that it was
a sweet dream. You gave a group of Belarussian children a month of great
happiness. I have happy memories of my stay with you in Scotland. I enjoyed
my visit very much. I returned home stronger, happy and full of impressions.
My little daughters were disappointed a little, that I didn't take them
with me (They are small yet to understand everything). Raisa, my younger
daughter likes to look at my photos. As for Victorya, I told her that when
she is ten, she would probably will have a chance to visit Great Britain.
Now she wants to be 10 years old.
This year I have 30 periods (lessons) a week. (26 - in English and 4 - as
a form teacher). I stay at school from the very early morning till late
at night. My days off are Thursday and Sunday. It is very difficult to work
as a teacher, especially in our village.
As for English, most of the children consider it to be the most difficult
subject. Our school has not any equipment for studying English. We need
a tape recorder for listening comprehension with cassettes to listen to
the English Speech. This year our school has not even chalk for writing
on the blackboard. So we are given only a book, which I should say a nice
book, and that's all.
I try to do my best to teach children to read, write and speak in English.
But it is not so easy. I teach children of the 6th and 5th forms. They are
small yet to speak English. They can only write and read in English. So
again I have no practice in speaking.
I hope all is well with you and your family. I wish you good luck.
